State Taxable Income Workpapers

Add state TI subcategories

You can add user-defined subcategories manually or by import under existing categories in the system.
We recommend that you follow these rules when creating user-defined categories:
  • You can create up to 500 subcategories, total, for the State Modifications workpaper.
  • Subcategories are defined via a 3 t to 12 digit alphanumeric character code.
  • The first 2-digits of the code are system-defined and correspond to the category under which the subcategory's set up. The remaining characters are user-defined and can be comprised of numbers or letters or both.
  • The length of the description is limited to 50 characters.
  • Subcategories rollover from year to year.
To create a subcategory:
  1. Select
    Charts
    ,
    State Taxable Income
    , and then
    Categories
    .
  2. Choose whether the category will be an
    Addition
    ,
    Subtraction
    , or
    Adjustment
     to federal income.
  3. Select
    +
     to add the category.
  4. Assign the alphanumeric code and description, then
    Save
    .
