Receipt & Adjustment Entry overview

Use the Receipt & Adjustment Entry screen to track payments for services your firm provides to clients. The information you enter on here will help you track firm revenues and the status of each client’s account.
To open this screen, go to
Actions
, then
Receipt & Adjustment Entry
(or press
Ctrl+R
).
You can set preferences for receipt and adjustment entry. Go to
Setup
,
User Preferences
, then the
Receipt & Adjustment Entry
tab.

Entry tab

Use this tab to enter receipts and adjustments. This tab has a
Control Date
field, a
Receipts
tab, and an
Adjustments
tab. If your firm uses approval and posting, it will also have:
  • Display-only checkboxes to show whether you've approved or posted an item.
  • A
    Journal
    button to preview and print a journal of items for the current control date.

Receipts tab

Use the
Receipts
tab to enter payments received from your firm’s clients. The tab has a data-entry grid and a panel that shows the the client and Accounts Receivable (A/R) balance.

Adjustments tab

Use the
Adjustments
tab to enter any adjustments to your clients’ A/R balances. This tab has a data-entry grid and a panel that displays the client and A/R balance.

Overview tab

Use this tab to view both receipts and adjustments on a single screen.
Use
Filter by
to filter by any field in the data-entry grid or to use saved filters. Use the
Method
list to choose more filter options.
The data-entry grid similar to those on the
Receipts
and
Adjustments
tabs, except it includes
Bank Account
and
Control Date
. This helps you to make entries for multiple bank accounts and on multiple dates on a single grid.

Integrated Receipts tab

Use this tab to accept payments from clients who have paid their invoices online via their portal.
If you're licensed for NetClient CS portals, you can create personalized, secure web space (a portal) for each of your clients. Your clients sign into their customized portals through your website, so security is preserved at all times. You and your clients can use NetClient CS portals in many ways, such as including exchanging documents, gathering financial data, and accessing applications.

Review tab

Use this tab to approve and post receipts and adjustments. This tab will only appear if your firm uses the approval process. The tab includes:
  • A
    Filter by
    list (and, if applicable, a
    Method
    list).
  • Unapproved only
    and
    Unposted only
    checkboxes to help you narrow your view
  • A grid to display receipts and adjustments awaiting approval or posting.
