Making fields in a transaction in Time and Expense Entry required

When entering time in
Actions
, then
Time & Expense Entry
, some boxes require this, while other boxes are optional. See the following for a list of boxes and their status:
  • Client
    : Required
  • Engagement
    : Required
  • Project
    : Either required or optional, depending on your firm setup.

    To make the project box required, select
    Setup
    ,
    Firm
    , then
    Preferences
    tab, and mark
    Require Projects on Time and Expense entries
    . If you turn on this option and you don't fill out the project box when entering time, you will receive the message “Project is a required box (Required by firm).” If the client you're entering time for doesn't have any projects, the project box won't require entry. It also won't give an error when saving.
  • Activity
    : Required
  • Checkpoint Edge Course
    : Optional. Available only if activity class is Administrative/CPE.
  • Date
    : Required
  • Rates/Unit Price
    : Required. Usually entered automatically based on the Activity or Engagement entered.
  • Hours/Units
    : Required. Defaults to 0.00 if not entered.
  • Amount
    : Required. System calculates automatically based on Rate/Unit Price and Hours/Units. You may be able to change it with proper security permission.
  • Comment
    : Optional
  • Biller Note
    : Optional
  • Custom Fields
    : Optional
