If you can't manage or add add-ins, review the following information. If the issue continues or the situation doesn’t apply, contact Microsoft Outlook for more details about your account and environment.

Why add-ins can't be managed

A Microsoft Exchange account is required to get add-ins. If you use a Gmail or another non-Exchange account type in Outlook, the
Get Add-ins
button is grayed out.
Some terminal server versions of Outlook don’t support add-ins. If the
Get Add-ins
button doesn’t appear in Outlook, you may be using one of these versions.

Why My Portal Inbox is blank

Some versions of Outlook are not compatible with the Exchange add-in. To resolve the issue, update Outlook to a supported version or use the online portal.
Outlook 2013 is not compatible with the add-in. Outlook 2016 and Outlook 2019 may or may not be compatible, depending on the license type.
  • Volume-licensed Outlook 2016 and Outlook 2019 versions are not compatible with Exchange. These versions use Internet Explorer for Office on the web, and the Exchange add-in is web-based.
  • Retail Outlook 2016 and Outlook 2019 versions use Edge instead of Internet Explorer and can run the add-in.
