General Navigation

SMART Practice Aids uses an easy-to-navigate three-pane design. Take a few minutes to get familiar with the names of the interface features. This will help you better understand the Help's step-by-step procedures that show you how to use SMART Practice Aids.

Navigation Pane

The
Navigation
pane appears on the left side of the main interface window. It displays the sequential steps in the engagement process, including the associated forms and procedures. You click a heading in this pane to display a new step or form in the Content pane.
Use the
Navigation
drop-down list at the top of the pane to view different areas of the engagement.
You can hide or display the
Navigation
pane and right-hand pane using the "pin" icons that appear at the top of the panes.
  • Click the pin icon to "unpin" the pane. When you move the cursor off the pane, it collapses to the side of the window.
  • To display the pane, roll your mouse cursor over the gray bar, and the pane expands. Click the pin icon to "pin" the pane in the open position.
  • Use this action to give yourself more room to work in the center pane while completing a form or assessment. You can then display the side panes as needed for navigation.

Content Pane

The
Content
pane displays the current form, procedure, risk, or program as you move through SMART Practice Aids forms. Use the
Content
pane to make changes to your engagement plan and input risks, procedures, and planning information.

Right-hand Pane

The
Right
-hand pane is variable and displays different information depending on the engagement area, engagement step, and SMART module being used.
  • While completing planning forms in an audit (or review engagement in which you elected to document identified risk), use the right-hand pane to add or edit risks for each audit (or financial statement) area.
  • When reviewing and modifying engagement programs, use the right-hand pane to navigate and add additional procedures to your programs.
  • When viewing a
    Disclosure
checklist, the right-hand pane displays additional libraries of disclosure notes.
