SurePrep has extended 1040/1041 services to process the following returns:
  1. 1040NR
    : Form 1040NR is an IRS income tax return that nonresident aliens may have to file if they engaged in business in the U.S. during the tax year or if they earned income from U.S. sources throughout the year.
  2. Dual Tax Returns
    : A dual-status taxpayer is both a U.S. resident alien and a nonresident alien in the same tax year. Dual status doesn’t refer to the taxpayer's citizenship, only to their resident status for tax purposes in the United States. To determine the taxpayer's U.S. income tax liability for a dual-status tax year, different rules apply for the part of the year they are a resident of the United States and the part of the year they are a nonresident. The most common dual-status tax years are the years of arrival and departure. IRS determination is based on the number of days a foreigner without U.S. citizenship resides in the United States as a resident and nonresident alien in a single tax year.
  3. Amended Tax Returns
    : An Amended return is a form filed to make corrections to a tax return from a previous year. Form 1040X needs to be filed along with the original return. Binders for amended returns are submitted the same way as a regular return (for example, 1040). Changes will happen in the tax software.
  4. ESBT Tax Return
    : Electing small business trusts (ESBT) are frequently used as an estate planning tool. These trusts let holders of subchapter S stock to transfer ownership and income to multiple beneficiaries. The assets held in the trust are limited to subchapter S stock as well as Non-subchapter S property.
