Set PBFX files to open in SPbinder

A PBFX file is downloaded when you open an existing binder or create a new binder. Attempting to open the PBFX file for the 1st time on a Windows 11 device may require you to associate PBFX files with SPbinder. You will either see a prompt to select a software/program from a list or Windows will attempt to open the file in an incorrect software (for example, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word).
Follow these steps to associate PBFX files with SPbinder:
  1. To open a binder, go to the
    OPTIONS
    column, then select the
    Open
    Open icon icon.
    Select the Open icon.

    You can also select
    CREATE NEW BINDER
    to download a PBFX file.
  2. Locate the downloaded .PBFX file on your device, then open the file menu and select
    Properties
    .
    Select Properties.
  3. Select
    Change
    , to associate the .pbfx file extension type with SPbinder by default.
    Select Change...
  4. On the software selection window, select
    More apps
    .
    Select More apps.
  5. To view additional options, select
    Look for another app on this PC
    .
    Select Look for another app on this PC.
  6. When the
    Open With
    window appears, select
    SurePrep.PortableBinderFormat(PBF)
    and then
    Open
    .
    note
    If you are on a local machine, then
    SurePrep.PortableBinderFormat(PBF).exe
    is located in the
    Program Files (x86)\SurePrepLLC\PBFX
    folder.
    For example: Go to
    C:\Program Files (x86)\SurePrepLLC\PBFX
    then select
    SurePrep.PortableBinderFormat(PBF).exe
    If you are on cloud environment, contact your IT team to locate your SurePrep program folder.
    Select the PBFX file.
Once you have associated the .PBFX file extension type with SPbinder, you should be able to open SPbinder from SurePrep FileRoom.
