ProSystem fx Tax (Tax year 2022 and earlier only)

When submitting binders in FileRoom, you'll need to upload the client's most recent tax application file details. You can upload binders as in-house or outsource services based on the tax application configured by your firm. If you've selected an
Other
tax application template, you don't have to attach the tax files.

In-house binders

  1. Confirm that home state, SSN, and filing status are all entered in the ProSystem fx Tax file.
  2. Calculate and save the ProSystem fx Tax file.
  3. In FileRoom, point to the
    Create New Binder
    caret icon.
  4. Point to
    1040
    .
  5. Select from the following services:
    • 1040 SCAN PRO
    • 1040SCAN ORGANIZE
    • SPbinder
    • * 1040SCANverify Onshore
      &
      1040SCANverify Offshore
    *
    while
    1040SCANverify Onshore/Offshore
    are not In-house services, the same instructions can apply as other In-house services.
  6. Open the PBFX file once it downloads completely.
  7. The
    Create New Binder
    wizard opens. Under
    Select Binder Template
    , select the template with the tax year and
    ProSystem fx Tax
    as the tax application.
    ProSystem fx Tax will appear as the TAX SOFTWARE.
  8. When the
    Select ProSystem fx Tax return
    panel appears, the
    Select ProSystem fx Tax File Path
    field will display the path set in
    Tax File Activation
    , then
    ProSystem fx Tax
    .

  9. If you need to change the file path, select the path, then select the path you want to use.
  10. Under
    Select Source Documents
    , select
    Browse
    .
    Select your source documents, then select
    Open
    to attach the source documents.
  11. If the name of the 1st selected source document matches the tax file, then the
    Client ID
    ,
    First Name
    , and
    Last Name
    fields are populate based on the data in the tax file.
  12. If the name of the 1st selected source document matches the Client ID and there is only 1 version of the ProSystem fx Tax file, the file will be automatically attached.
    If the name of the 1st selected source document matches the Client ID and there are multiple versions of the ProSystem fx tax file, the
    Multiple Versions of ProSystem fx Tax file
    window will open. Select the version, then select
    Ok
    .
  13. Search for ProSystem fx Tax file
    window appears if the name of the 1st documents is not the same as the Client ID. Type the
    Client ID
    then select
    Search
    .
    If the tax application file exists at the selected folder path, it will be attached automatically. If it doesn’t, you'll receive an error. Select
    OK
    and try again.
  14. If you're unable to attach the tax file in the ways previously described, you can attach it manually. Under
    Select ProSystem fx Tax return
    , select
    Browse
    .
    Select the required tax file, then select
    Open
    .
  15. The last digit indicates the version number (that is, 1, 2, 3)
    In FileRoom, the version number of the tax file will be reflected next to the Client ID.
  16. If the ProSystem fx Tax file isn't calculated before submitting the tax file, you'll see the following error message
    File Data not proper, Please recalculate the return in ProSystem fx Tax
    . In that case, select
    OK
    . Open the return in ProSystem fx Tax, recalculate it, and try again.
  17. When the tax file is attached, the
    Client ID
    ,
    First Name
    ,
    Last Name
    ,
    Taxpayer SSN
    , and
    Filing Status
    will be populated automatically under the
    Enter Client Details
    section.
  18. If you selected the incorrect version or tax file and want to remove it, select
    Delete
    .
    Select
    Yes
    in the confirmation.
