Security

The
SECURTY
tab lets taxpayers change their security questions and phone number used for Two-factor authentication.
Two-factor authentication
Two-factor authentication (2FA) helps keep taxpayer accounts secure by prompting the user to enter a security code each time they log in. This feature is enabled by default and we recommend your clients keep it enabled to enhance the security of their account.
View TaxCaddy's taxpayer help center article about changing phone numbers.
The
Two Factor - Change Number
dialog box will appear. Your client will be asked to provide the updated mobile phone number they would like to use in order to sign in to their TaxCaddy account in the
MOBILE NUMBER
field. Once their updated phone number has been correctly added, they will click
SEND VERIFICATION CODE
.
TaxCaddy will send a six-digit verification code to the phone number they've provided. Your client will enter their account password and the six-digit verification code in their associated fields. They will click
NEXT
once the information has been added to finalize this update.
Update Security Question
TaxCaddy uses security questions to verify the taxpayer's identity if they forget their password. To safeguard the taxpayer's TaxCaddy account, they can choose security questions with answers that someone can't guess or find on your social media.
Device Activity
Shows a list of your client's ten most recent account logins, helping them monitor who has access to their tax information.
