Creating DRL from the questionnaire template

You have the option to automatically request a document based on your client's response to a specific question from the questionnaire template. When your client answers the question, a document request is created automatically in your client's profile. Creating DRL from questionnaire responses helps you avoid the process of manually requesting documents after reviewing your client's questionnaire.

Before you start

Your firm must first enable the Questionnaire DRL feature. After the feature is enabled, you can begin modifying the questionnaire template to set up DRL.

Creating DRL from questionnaire answers

Follow these steps to create Questionnaire DRL for your clients:
  1. Log in to TaxCaddy. 
  2. Select
    Administrative
    then select
    Questionnaire
    .
    Select Administrative, then QUESTIONNAIRE.
  3. Select the tax year for the questionnaire template.
    Select the tax year you would like to edit the questionnaire for.
  4. Select the
    Expand
    icon to view questions in that life-changing event category. 
    Select the Expand icon for the question you would like to edit.
  5. Select
    Edit
    Edit icon to edit an existing question. You can also scroll to the end of the list, then select
    ADD NEW QUESTION
    to add a new question.
    Select the Edit icon for an existing question, or ADD NEW QUESTION to add a new question.
  6. Select
    MULTIPLE CHOICE
    from the dropdown menu.
    Select MULTIPLE CHOICE from the menu.
  7. Select
    GENERATE NEW DRL ITEM
    .
    Select GENERATE NEW DRL ITEM.
  8. Select
    IF 'YES'
     to create a document request if your client selects
    "YES"
    as an answer.
    Select
    IF 'NO'
     to create a document request if your client selects
    "NO"
    as an answer.
    Select the answer to trigger the DRL item generation.
  9. Select a
    CATEGORY
    from the dropdown menu.
    Select the DRL category.
  10. Select
    SAVE
    . Updating the questionnaire template won’t retroactively update any existing questions in clients' profiles.
    Select SAVE to save the question to your firm's questionnaire.
  11. You will now see the
    GENERATES NEW DRL ITEM
    status.
    GENERATES NEW DRL ITEM badge appearing on the question.
  12. Once a client provides their answer to a question that generates a DRL item, you will be able to see whether or not their answer will trigger the generation of the DRL item. If a DRL item will be created, then the associated question will have the
    DRL ITEM GENERATED
    badge.
    DRL ITEM GENERATED appearing once the item has been generated for the client.
    If a DRL item won’t be created, then the associated question will have the
    DRL ITEM NOT GENERATED
    badge.
    DRL ITEM NOT GENERATED badge appearing on a question after the client did not generate the DRL item.
Sample
When your client answers the question with the selected "if" statement then a corresponding document request will automatically appear in the client's profile after a short buffer time.

Updating or removing the Questionnaire DRL
To update a question's document request, select the
Edit
Edit icon icon, then select
GENERATE DRL ITEM
.
Select GENERATE DRL ITEM.
Select a new
CATEGORY
or change the
"IF"
statement, then select
CONTINUE
.
Select the updated condition and category.
To remove an automatic document request from a questionnaire, select
CLEAR AUTOMATIC DRL ITEM
.
Select CLEAR AUTOMATIC DRL ITEM.
