The UltraTax CS Source Data Entry utility enables you to enter data on facsimile versions of forms your clients submit for the preparation of their tax returns. Once the facsimile forms are completed, you can export the data to UltraTax CS and transfer it into your client data files via the data sharing feature. Contributions

Use this section to record contributions and basis information for each account.
Enter the social security number of the beneficiary on the account.
Select social security numbers and names of individuals present in the return in the
Beneficiary's SSN

fields will populate. A social security number not found in the return can be keyed into the field.

Enter the taxpayer's or spouse's basis in the account as of the last day of the prior year.
Enter the value of the account as of the final day of the current year.
Enter the amount of the distribution excepted from additional tax.
Enter a positive or negative adjustment to modified adjusted gross income for purpose of calculating maximum education savings account contribution only. If the

The account number is used to match the donation made through the current-year Pennsylvania tax return overpayment with the tuition savings account. In the following year, the prior-year donation as the current-year donation will transfer.
  • Virginia:
    Enter the account number from the Virginia College Savings Plan statement for this beneficiary. The account number is used to calculate the $4,000 maximum deduction from income for taxpayers under age 70 for this contract. Each contract and its account number must be entered separately if a beneficiary has more than one contract. Any unused contract payments are carried to the following year on the Virginia College Savings Plan Carryover Worksheet.

Payments from QTPs/ESAs

Use this section to enter education expenses and adjustments to basis.
Enter the amount of adjusted qualified higher education expenses that were paid for with distributions from this Qualified Tuition Program. This amount automatically transfers to the Qualified Tuition Program Distribution Worksheet, if applicable.
Do not include expenses used to calculate an education credit or deduction elsewhere on the return.
Enter the amount of elementary and secondary education expenses that were paid for with distributions from this account for which the taxpayer or spouse is the beneficiary.
Use the field to enter the amount of a distribution by a beneficiary for which the taxpayer is the account owner. This information transfers to the QTP/ESA Basis Worksheet only. This field is inactive if the Relationship to account field indicates the taxpayer or spouse is the beneficiary or both account owner and beneficiary.
Enter other adjustments to the basis of this QTP or ESA in the current year. Information from this field is reported on the QTP/ESA Basis Worksheet only.
