General Information

Enter the taxpayer's address if it is different than the information entered in the 1040 screen. Otherwise, the address information in the 1040 screen is the default if any of the address fields in this screen are left blank.
Enter the type of visa if it is different than the
Type of visa
field in the NRA-2 screen. Otherwise, the
Type of visa
field information in the NRA-2 screen is the default if this field is left blank.
If the taxpayer can exclude days under the de minimis presence rule, enter the dates of de minimis presence.
If dates are entered in the
Dates of de minimis presence
field, enter sufficient facts to establish that the taxpayer has maintained their tax home in, and a closer connection to, a foreign country during the period of de minimis presence.

in this field if the taxpayer is not required to file a tax return and the Statement of U.S. Residency Termination Date is being filed separately. Separate filing instructions print when this field is marked.

Closer Connection

Use this section to enter facts that establish the taxpayer has maintained their tax home in, and a closer connection to, a foreign country at all times after the residency termination date, following the individual's last day of presence in the U.S.
