Screen eSign - Electronic Signature (1040)

This screen lets you suppress certain eSignature documents from being sent to your client. Use this screen only if you have enabled eSignature from the
Setup
,
Office Configuration
,
eSignature tab. The application automatically generates an eSignature document package for the following items.
  • Form 8879, IRS e-file Signature Authorization
  • Form 8878, IRS e-file Signature Authorization for Form 4868 or 2350
  • Form 114a, Record of Authorization to Electronically File FBARs
  • 1040 Individual Engagement Letter
  • Consent to Disclose Tax Information (IRC Section 7216)
  • Consent to Use Tax Information (IRC Section 7216)
  • Bank Account Verification Worksheet
Go to this screen from within a 1040 return by selecting the
Electronic Filing
folder, then the
eSign tab.

eSignature - Suppression

Enter
X
in the appropriate field to suppress a specific item from being sent with the package for electronic signatures.
Enter
X
to suppress Form 8879 from being included in the eSignature package.

e-Signature - Other

Enter
T
or
S
for a joint return where the taxpayer or spouse is serving in a combat zone and isn't required to sign the return. Also complete the
Special processing
and
Combat zone deployment date
fields in the 1040 screen.

for a joint return where the eSignature of an Engagement letter or Bank Account Verification Worksheet should be emailed. The default is J (joint).
Enter the client's prior-year U.S. domestic address. This will allow an eSignature on Form 8878 or Form 8879 when there's a foreign address on the 1040 screen.
