Screen 8283P2 - Noncash Contributions Greater Than $5,000 (1040)

Overview

Use this screen to enter noncash contributions of items or groups of similar items of value greater than $5,000.
You may select a custom paragraph to include Form 8283, Page 2 signature and filing instructions in the filing instructions. To select this custom paragraph on a client basis, select custom paragraph

Form 8283, Section B - General Information

Use this section to enter general information regarding Form 8283, Page 2, Section B.
If you are processing a state return, enter a state postal code for proper state processing. Press F4 from this field to view a list of available state postal codes.
Refer to State fields in UltraTax CS/1040 for more information.
Use this field to indicate the type of property contributed. The available codes are listed in the corresponding fieldview. If no entry is made, UltraTax CS defaults to
50% property
for the type of property contributed.
Use this field to indicate the type of property donated. UltraTax CS uses the code entered to mark the appropriate box on Form 8283, Page 2. The available codes are listed in the corresponding fieldview.

Donated Property Information for Properties A, B, C, and D

Use these sections to enter information related to the properties to be included on Form 8283, Page 2. If the client donated more than four different items, enter this information on additional units of this screen.
Enter the approximate date the property was acquired by the donor.
Indicate how the property was acquired by the donor. The available codes are listed in the corresponding fieldview. If no entry is made, UltraTax CS defaults to
Purchase
as the method by which the property was acquired.
Enter the cost or basis of the donated property in this field. Enter
0
(zero) in these fields for instances when the donor has no basis.
Enter the deduction code. This code determines in which field the contribution amount is placed on Form 8283, Page 2. The available codes are listed in the corresponding fieldview.
Enter an amount in this field if you want to override (force) the calculated charitable contribution deduction amount to appear on Schedule A.
If applicable, enter a state use code or select a code from the fieldview. The codes that are available in this field are specific to the state postal code entered in the
State
field. If state use codes are not applicable to the entered state, this field will be disabled (shaded).

Appraiser Information

Use this section to enter the information to complete Part II for items included in Part I that have an appraised value of $500 or less per item.
Enter the letter A, B, C, or D, or the corresponding unit number of the applicable 1098C property, to identify in which group in Part I this item is included.
UltraTax CS automatically transfers the description entered in the
Description
field that corresponds with the identifying letter entered for the appraised property. You can override this description by entering a description in this field.
Enter the business address of the appraiser.
The
Business address
field contains a linked custom fieldview, which enables you to automatically enter data in the related
City
,
state
, and
zip code
fields. Click the down arrow and choose Edit Multi-field Custom Fieldview to open the Custom Fieldview dialog, in which you can enter, edit, or select a fieldview item for these linked fields. Refer to What is a "custom fieldview"? for more information about linked custom fieldviews.

Donee Acknowledgement

Use the fields in this section to identify the donee organization, the address of the organization, the date the donation was received, and to indicate whether or not the organization intends to use the property for an unrelated use.
