Overview

Use this screen to complete the Schedule 2 - Credit for Income Taxes Paid to Other Jurisdictions sections of Forms CT-1040 and CT-1040NR/PY.
In addition, UltraTax CS uses this screen to complete either the Connecticut Schedule 2 Resident Income and Adjustments Worksheet or the Connecticut Schedule 2 Part-Year Resident Income and Adjustments Worksheet.
Screen CTSTCr is a multiple-unit input screen. Complete one unit of the input screen for each state to which taxes were paid.

  • This input screen applies to residents and part-year residents only.
  • UltraTax/1040-CT automatically prints copies of state returns for nonresident states for which the credit for taxes paid to other states has been calculated using UltraTax CS.

General Information

UltraTax CS uses information in this section to complete Schedule 2 on Forms CT-1040 and CT-1040NR/PY.
State postal code / State name
If you are using UltraTax CS to file a nonresident return, UltraTax/1040-CT automatically completes the
State postal code
and
State name
fields. If you are not using UltraTax CS to file nonresident return, enter the state postal code and UltraTax/1040-CT completes the
State name
field.
Tax paid to other state excludes alternative minimum tax(Force)
If you are using UltraTax CS to file a nonresident return, UltraTax/1040-CT automatically completes this field. Use the
Force
field to enter the tax paid amount if it is different from the calculated amount. If you are not using UltraTax CS to file a nonresident return for which you would like to claim this credit, enter the tax paid from that state’s return in the
Force
field.
Net loss from sources in other jurisdictions (Force)
This field applies to residents only. The amount is calculated by taking the sum of all income items from the Connecticut Schedule 2 Resident Income and Adjustments Worksheet, which is collected from each unit of Screen CTSTCr. If the result is a net loss, this amount is added to Form CT-1040, Modified Connecticut Adjusted Gross Income, line 48.
To force (override) the calculated amount, enter an amount in this field. A force amount should be entered in the
first unit only
.

Income

If you are a Connecticut resident and you are using UltraTax CS to file a nonresident return, UltraTax/1040-CT automatically completes the calculated fields in this section. Use the
Force
column to enter amounts if different from calculated amounts. If you are a part-year Connecticut resident, enter amounts from the other jurisdiction’s return in the
Force
column.

  • UltraTax/1040-CT needs input to adjust for losses for New Jersey and Pennsylvania because these states do not report negative amounts for the following: business income; other losses; rental real estate, royalties, partnerships, S Corporations, trusts, etc., and farm loss. Use the
    Force
    fields to enter amounts that should be reflected on line 48 of Form CT-1040,
    Modified Connecticut Adjusted Gross Income
    .
  • If you are a Connecticut resident, you have the option of entering the total amount in the
    Net loss from sources in other jurisdictions (Force)
    field or amounts in the individual
    Force
    columns. If the amounts are entered in both places, UltraTax/1040-CT takes the
    Net loss from sources in other jurisdictions (Force)
    field amount.
Special accruals
Enter the amount of special accruals entered in Screen CTGen that is attributable to this taxing jurisdiction. Amounts entered in the statement dialog are included in the Other income line of the Connecticut Schedule 2 Part-Year Resident Income and Adjustments Worksheet.

Adjustments

Fields in this section are for part-year residents only. UltraTax CS uses information in this section to complete the Connecticut Schedule 2 Part-Year Resident Income and Adjustments Worksheet.

Credit for Taxes Paid to NYC or Yonkers

UltraTax CS uses information in this section to complete Schedule 2 on Forms CT-1040 and CT-1040NR/PY.
NYC - Form NYC-202 Business income / Yonkers - business income
If you are using UltraTax CS to file a nonresident return, UltraTax/1040-CT automatically completes the
Calculated
field. Use the
Force
field to enter the Business Income amount if it is different from the calculated amount. If you are not using UltraTax CS to file a nonresident return, enter the business income amount from that city’s return in the
Force
field.
NYC - UBT tax paid / Yonkers - tax paid
If you are using UltraTax CS to file a nonresident return, UltraTax/1040-CT automatically completes the
Calculated
field. Use the
Force
field to enter the tax paid amount if it is different from the UltraTax CS amount. If you are not using UltraTax CS to file a return on which you would like to claim this credit, enter the tax paid from that city’s return in the
Force
field.
Yonkers - wages
If you are using UltraTax CS to file a nonresident return, UltraTax/1040-CT automatically completes the
Calculated
field. Use the
Force
field to enter the wages amount if it is different from the calculated amount. If you are not using UltraTax CS to file a nonresident return, enter the wages amount from that city’s return in the
Force
field.
