Screen DCSTCr - District of Columbia Credit Taxes Paid Other State (1040)

Overview

Use this screen to calculate the District of Columbia credit for taxes paid to other states. If your'e processing a multiple-state return, process the nonresident state(s) first and then process the resident state. UltraTax/1040-DC transfers the necessary information from the nonresident return(s) to your resident return to complete the credit for taxes paid to other states.

State Income and Tax Information

If you are using UltraTax CS to file a nonresident return, UltraTax/1040-DC automatically completes the
State postal code
and
name
fields using that information. If you aren't using UltraTax CS to file a nonresident return, enter the state postal code and UltraTax/1040-DC completes the
name
field.
If your'e using UltraTax CS to complete a nonresident return, UltraTax/1040-DC automatically completes the
State income taxed
fields for the nonresident state return. Use the
Force
column to enter the state income taxed amount if it's different from the calculated amount. If you aren't using UltraTax CS to complete a nonresident return to claim this credit, enter the taxable income from that state’s return in the
Force
column.
If your'e using UltraTax CS to file a nonresident return, UltraTax/1040-DC automatically completes the
Tax paid to state
field for taxes paid to the nonresident state. Use the
Force
column to enter the tax paid amount if it's different from the calculated amount. If you aren't using UltraTax CS to complete a nonresident return to claim this credit, enter the taxable income from that state’s return in the
Force
column.
