Disability Income Exclusion

If the taxpayer or spouse is disabled, enter the name of the employer paying the disability income in these fields.
If the payer of the disability income wasn't the taxpayer's/spouse's employer, enter the name of that payer in these fields.
UltraTax CS defaults to using 52 full work weeks when calculating Form D-2440, line 2. Enter the number of weeks that the taxpayer / spouse received disability payments during the current tax year if it's less than a full year. Enter the number of hours if any disability income was received for a partial work week.

to indicate that a physician's statement has been filed in a previous tax year certifying that the filer is permanently disabled. UltraTax CS will mark the appropriate fields on Form D-2440 and on Schedule H, Page 2.

Physician information doesn't transfer from the federal return. One of the following is required for Form D-2440: a previously filed physician's certification, an attached physician's statement or a physician's certification completed with the current year's Form D-2440. The physician information entered here is also used to complete Schedule H, Page 2.

if, on January 1 of the tax year, the filer has reached the age required to retire under their employer's retirement program. Form D-2440 doesn't calculate, because the filer doesn't qualify for the disability income exclusion.
