Screen IDEst - Idaho Estimates (1040)

Show all hidden content

Overview

Use this screen to complete Form 40 and the Idaho Estimated Tax Payments Worksheet. If information transferred from UltraTax/1040 doesn't require additional data or coding, UltraTax/1040-ID shows it on the form only, not in the input screen.
note
State payments are entered in the federal
St Pmt
screen so the amounts transfer to federal Schedule A. If you enter payments for this state in more than one of the units provided in the federal
St Pmt
screen, be sure to use the same fields for each unit. For example, if you use
Total
in one unit, use
Total
for all units that pertain to Idaho. Similarly, if you use the
1st-5th payment
fields, enter amounts in the payment fields for all units used for Idaho.

Overpayment Application

Application of 2024 overpayment
These code options are the same as those in UltraTax/1040. They instruct UltraTax CS how to apply any current-year overpayment. Your decision affects what is printed on the return and the calculation of next year's estimated tax payments.
New clients and converted clients may benefit from global options. Go to
Setup
,
1040 Individual
, then
Idaho
tab. Select
New Client Options
and enter the code or codes with which newly created and converted client returns calculate. These input screen fields transfer the global choice to newly created and converted clients. The transferred codes may be changed in these fields if necessary without being replaced by the global choice made in the
New Client Options
window. These fields are proforma'd from year to year, therefore, only newly created and converted clients are affected by global options.

, enter the quarterly payments in these fields. These amounts are adjusted by the overpayment applied and print on the vouchers.
If you enter code

Tax projection options for code 8
If you enter code
8

Amount to round up each estimate
This field lets you enter rounding specifications for the estimated payments. The estimated payments can be rounded up to the nearest factor indicated.
For example, to round up each estimated payment to the nearest $10, enter
10
. If this field is blank, UltraTax CS automatically rounds each estimated payment up to the next dollar.
Pay 2025 estimates using electronic funds transfer
Individual income tax filers can register to pay their balances, estimates, and extension payments using the Federal Reserve's Automated Clearing House (ACH) Debit or Credit online payment system. This option will need to be registered for in advance at https://idahotap.gentax.com/TAP/_/#1.
If selecting ACH Debit, the client will be linked to Idaho's service provider to begin the enrollment process. If selecting ACH Credit, fax the completed form to (208) 334-7625 or email the scanned form as an attachment to eft@tax.idaho.gov. The state will fax or email their Tax Payment Addenda Record when ACH credit is setup on their end.
The client will then take the Tax Payment Addenda Record to their bank and request ACH Credit setup. ACH Credit takes several days to process so if your client prefers this method of ACH Debit, allocate additional processing time between the state and the client's bank.
The client will receive instructions on how to go about making their electronic funds transfer payments if they elect to register for either ACH Debit or Credit. Contact the State Tax Commission at (208) 334-7660 in the Boise area, or call (800) 972-7660, if you have additional questions.
Entering
X
prints a filing instruction paragraph advising the filer they’ll be paying their estimates online using the electronic funds transfer (EFT) method and that they should follow the instructions issued by the state for using EFT.
