Overview

Use this screen to complete Schedule S, Parts A and B. Interest and dividend income is entered in the federal B&D, SDE, K1, and K1T Screens.

Additions to Income

UltraTax CS uses the amounts you enter in this section to complete Schedule S, Part A, Modifications to Federal Adjusted Gross Income, and Schedule S, Part B, Part Year Resident / Nonresident Allocation. UltraTax CS automatically calculates Kansas adjustments with respect to items such as state and municipal interest, interest on U.S. obligations, federal retirement benefits, and Kansas exempt pension plans based on information you enter at the federal level.

Enter other Kansas additions to income and their codes in the statement dialog.

Federal Income Tax Refund
Enter the amount that resulted from amending the federal return for a prior year due to an investment credit carryback or net operating loss carryback that resulted in receiving a federal income tax refund for that prior year.

Partnership, S Corporation or Fiduciary Adjustments
If income was received from a partnership, S Corporation, joint venture, syndicate, estate, or trust, enter the proportionate share of any required addition adjustments. This information should be provided on the documentation received from the pass-through entity. Additions from pass-through entities may be entered on the federal K1-St Screen.

Learning Quest Education Savings
Enter the amount of any non-qualified withdrawal from the Learning Quest Education Savings Program.

Amortization - Energy Credits
Enter the amount from Schedules K-73, K-77, K-79, K-82, or K-83.

Ad Valorem or Property taxes
Enter the amount of Ad Valorem or property taxes paid by a nonresident that are included in itemized deductions. An amount entered here is included as an Other Addition on Schedule S, Part A.

Subtractions from Income

UltraTax CS uses the amounts you enter in this section to complete Schedule S, Part A, Modifications to Federal Adjusted Gross Income, and Schedule S, Part B, Part Year Resident / Nonresident Allocation. UltraTax CS automatically calculates Kansas adjustments with respect to items such as state and municipal interest, interest on U.S. obligations, federal retirement benefits, and Kansas exempt pension plans based on information you enter at the federal level.
KPERS lump sum rollover
Enter the amounts withdrawn from a qualified retirement account. The amounts entered affect the Schedule S.
Federal retirement benefits (Force)
UltraTax CS automatically calculates the Kansas subtraction for federal retirement benefits when you enter

State Use
field in the federal 1099 Screen. If you enter an amount, UltraTax CS uses this amount instead of the calculated amount.
Kansas exempt pension plans (Force)
UltraTax CS automatically calculates the Kansas subtraction for Kansas exempt pension plans when you enter

Income qualifying for the military spouse exclusion
This field is applicable to nonresident returns only. Enter the amount in the

field of qualifying military spouse income to be subtracted on Schedule S, Part A. If any Kansas source income that qualifies for the exclusion is included in Schedule S, Part B, enter the amount in the
Kansas Source
field of qualifying military spouse income.

Enter the amount of the federal targeted jobs tax credit disallowance claimed on the federal income tax return.

Enter the amount of dividend income received from Kansas Venture Capital, Inc.

KPERS Lump Sum Distributions
Enter the subtraction of contributions, which were added, back on the Kansas income tax return as a modification from 1984 to the current year. Review notice 05-04 for additional information.

Partnership, S Corporation or Fiduciary Adjustments
Enter the proportionate share of any required subtraction adjustments derived from income received from a partnership, S Corporation, joint venture, syndicate, trust, or estate. Subtractions from pass-through entities may be entered on federal K1-St Screen.

S Corporation Privilege Adjustment
Enter the portion of any income received that was not distributed as a dividend from a shareholder in a bank, savings and loan, or other financial institution organized as an S Corporation.

Sale of Kansas Turnpike Bonds
Enter the gain from sale of Kansas Turnpike Bonds that was included in federal AGI.

Electrical Generation Revenue Bonds
Enter the gain from the sale of Electrical Generation Revenue Bonds that was included in the federal AGI.

Native American Indian Reservation Income
Enter the amount of income earned on a reservation, by a native American Indian residing on his or her tribal reservation, to the extent included in federal adjusted gross income. Any amounts assigned to reservation income using state use code
