Overview

Use this screen to complete Form K-40H, Kansas Homestead Claim or Form K-40PT, Property Tax Relief Claim. If information transferred from UltraTax/1040 does not require additional data or coding, UltraTax/1040-KS shows the information on the form only, not in the input screen.

General Information

UltraTax CS uses the information in this section to determine eligibility and complete portions of Form K-40H or Form K-40PT.
Refund advancement program
Mark this box if the taxpayer would like to apply a portion of their anticipated homestead claim refund to apply toward their property taxes. This applies to both the Form K-40H and Form K-40PT. Review instructions for the Form K-40H.
Spouse considered a household member
If the filing status is married filing joint, and the spouse is considered a household member, enter

Household members
UltraTax CS automatically transfers dependents that lived with the taxpayer at any time during the year from federal 1040 Screen. If any Kansas data differs from the federal data, delete the data or enter the state data in the appropriate column. The new data displays in black and subsequent federal to state transfers do not overwrite this data. For more information, see Statements overview. Enter any additional household members who are not dependents in the statement dialog attached to this field. For each household member, indicate whether that person is the source of any household income reported on Form

Homestead property taxes levied (Force)
UltraTax CS calculates the amount for this field based upon amounts entered in federal A Screen in the real estate taxes statement dialog. Use this field to enter an amount other than the calculated amount.
General footnote
The general footnote may be printed and attached to the return for informational purposes. The general footnote appears as a separate item in each collation. Information entered into this statement dialog is not included in the electronic filing record.

When qualifications are met for both Forms K-40H and K-40PT, mark this checkbox for UltraTax CS to optimize between Form K-40H and Form K-40PT
Form K40-H, Form K40-PT (Force)
UltraTax CS optimizes between Forms K-40H and K-40PT when both Form K-40H and Form K-40PT qualifications are met. Select

Surviving spouse of a disabled veteran or active duty service member who died in the line of duty
Mark this box if the claimant is the surviving spouse of a disabled veteran or active duty military member who died in the line of duty.
Delinquent property tax

if there are delinquent property taxes. This information prints on Form K-40H.
Total number of rooms in homestead / Rooms rented or used for business
UltraTax CS uses the information you enter in these fields to calculate the business use percentage.

Household Income

UltraTax CS uses the amounts you enter in these fields instead of calculated amounts.
Other nontaxable income
Enter income for other persons who are included in determining household income in these fields, as well as other nontaxable income not entered anywhere else in the return.

Exempt Income Schedule

UltraTax CS uses the information in this section to complete the optional portion of Form K-40H or Form K-40PT.

Amended Return Information

UltraTax CS uses the information in this section to calculate an amended Form K-40H or Form K-40PT.
