General Information

Minimum Filing Level and Deduction Method: Federal gross income (Force)
Use this field to force an amount for federal gross income, which is used on the Maryland Minimum Filing Level Worksheet to determine if the taxpayer meets the minimum income requirements for filing. If this field is blank, the Maryland Minimum Filing Level Worksheet is calculated using the federal gross income amount that transfers from UltraTax/1040.
Minimum Filing Level and Deduction Method: Calculate return when Maryland gross income is less than minimum filing level (Force)
Use this field to force a tax liability to calculate on the Maryland return even when the client does not meet the minimum filing level required by the state. Using this option reduces any previously calculated refund.
Minimum Filing Level and Deduction Method: Standard or itemized deduction (Force)
Use this field to force the method of deduction used on Form 502 or 505. You must itemize on the federal return in order to force itemized deductions on the Maryland return. UltraTax CS automatically calculates the maximum deduction allowed.
Physical address if different from mailing address
In these fields, enter the physical Maryland address where the taxpayers lived as of December 31 or the last day of residence in the state. Non-residents enter the physical address where employed in Maryland as of December 31.
Authorize discussion with state taxing authority
Use this field to change the option indicated in federal Screen 1040. A global default is available for all new clients for both federal and state returns. To select this option, choose Setup > 1040 Individual > Federal tab > New Client Options button and from the drop-down list select Yes for the

The extension also applies to individuals who serve in the combat zone in support of U.S. armed forces. More detailed information regarding combat zone service is available on the IRS website.

Local Tax Computation

Local political subdivision where physical address is located for residents, or for nonresidents the locality of income based on county selected
Enter the county and local political subdivision in which the filer(s) reside for resident and part-year returns; for nonresident returns, this is the county where the filer(s) were employed at the end of the taxing period. If the city, town, or taxing area is not in the list, select
Not Listed
from the top of the drop-down list.
note
Local tax does not calculate unless a county is entered for the taxpayer.
Baltimore City has special instructions; select
Baltimore City
in the
Resident county or nonresident county where employed
field. When selected, "Baltimore City" prints on the return as the city but the county is blank.
For electronic files rejected using rule Form 502-01005-010, select

in the
Local political subdivision where physical address is located for residents, or for nonresidents the locality of income based on county selected
