Screen MTSTCr - Montana Credit for Taxes Paid Other States (1040)

Overview

Use this screen to complete Form 2, Schedule III - Tax Credit.

Income and Taxes

Use this section to complete Form 2, Schedule III - Tax Credit. If you are processing a multiple-state return, process the nonresident state(s) first, followed by the resident state. UltraTax/1040-MT transfers information from the nonresident return(s) to the resident return that is needed to complete the credit for taxes paid to other states.
UltraTax/1040-MT automatically prints copies of state returns if you are using UltraTax CS to file a nonresident return for which the credit for taxes paid to other states has been calculated.
If you are using UltraTax CS to file a nonresident return, UltraTax/1040-MT automatically completes the
State / country postal code / name
fields for the resident return. If you are not using UltraTax CS to file a nonresident return, enter the state / country postal code, and UltraTax/1040-MT completes the name field.
UltraTax/1040-MT automatically completes this field to match the other state's AGI. Use the
Force
column to enter the amount if different from AGI.
If you are using UltraTax CS to complete a multiple-state nonresident return, UltraTax/1040-MT automatically completes the
Tax paid to other state
field for the resident state return. If you did not use UltraTax CS to complete a multiple-state return for which you would like to claim this credit, enter the taxable income from that state's return in the
Force
column. Use the
Force
columns to enter the tax paid to other state if it is different from the calculated amount.
Part-year Montana residents are also eligible for this credit. Enter the other state / country AGI from all sources, and other state income included in the Montana AGI.
