Overview

Use this screen to complete Form PA-40 Schedule G-L, Computation of Credit for Taxes Paid to Other States or Countries.
If UltraTax CS is used to calculate another state’s return and it generates a credit for taxes paid to another state, UltraTax/1040-PA automatically includes a copy of that return. When filing on paper, a paper copy prints. When filing electronically, a portable document format (PDF) of the nonresident return is attached.

State Income and Tax Information

Use this section to complete Schedule G. While processing a multiple-state return, process the nonresident states first, then the resident state. UltraTax/1040-PA transfers from the nonresident returns to your resident return, the information that is necessary to complete the credit for taxes paid to other states. If processing a part-year Pennsylvania return, UltraTax/1040-PA doesn't calculate or transfer information from other returns. Use the force fields on this screen to calculate the credit.
Pennsylvania has reciprocity agreements with Indiana, Maryland, New Jersey, Ohio, Virginia, and West Virginia. When a nonresident Pennsylvania return is attached along with a reciprocal resident state, UltraTax/1040-PA omits the wages on the nonresident Pennsylvania return and continues with the calculation of the return when one of the
Resident state attached
checkboxes have been marked on the PANRPY screen. UltraTax/1040-PA automatically prints copies of state returns when UltraTax CS is used to file nonresident states for which the credit for taxes paid to other states has been calculated.
For additional information, see Credit for taxes paid to another state calculation.

Source entity name
Enter the name of the entity for each source having income or loss attributable to the state shown on Part I, line 1. This field will update Schedule G-L, Part II, column A, line 1. If the income amounts are from more than 1 source and columns B through D are required, enter the information in the
Detail of income subject to tax in other states (Force)
field found on this screen for the taxpayer and or spouse.
Detail of income subject to tax in other states (Force)
UltraTax CS automatically completes Schedule G-L, Part II when Schedule GL is printing and in Part II the
Source entity name
field has data. When the statement attached to the force field is used, the source column and all applicable amount columns must be entered. Use the force fields to enter information different than what was calculated. This information is not required for taxpayers who only have wages subject to tax in more than 1 state or interest and dividends subject to tax in foreign countries.
