Show all hidden content

Overview

Use this screen to complete the Local Earned Income Tax Return and Cities Estimated Tax Payments Worksheet. If data transferred from UltraTax/1040 doesn't require additional data or coding, UltraTax/1040-PA Cities shows it on the form only, not in the screen.
For resident and part-year returns:
To calculate local city estimates using the local estimate declaration code option
1; Use liability
, the city code entered must match a city code on the PAEITInc screen and the taxing authority city code entered must match a taxing authority city code on the PAEIT screen. All other codes can be used without the city code matching PAEIT or PAEITInc screens.
For nonresident returns:
To calculate local city estimates using the local estimate declaration code option
1; Use liability
, the city code entered must match both the taxing authority city code on the PAEIT screen and the city code on the PAEITInc screen. All other codes can be used without the city code matching PAEIT or PAEITInc screens.
note
City payments are entered in the federal St Pmt screen so the amounts transfer to the federal Schedule A. The overpayment, estimate amounts, and other withholding transfers from the federal St Pmt screen. If payments for this city are entered in more than 1 of the 4 sections provided in the federal St Pmt screen, make sure to use the same fields for each section. For example, if using the
Enter total, or
field in one section, use the
Enter total, or
field for all sections that pertain to a local city. Similarly, if using the
1st
through
5th
fields, enter amounts in the payment fields for all sections used for a local city.

work properly, the city code entered on this screen must match both the taxing authority city code on the PAEIT screen and the city code on the PAEITInc screen. All other codes can be used without the city code matching PAEIT or PAEITInc screens.
Resident municipality
For resident estimates, UltraTax CS uses this field to update the Resident Municipality field on the estimate vouchers.
For nonresident estimates, UltraTax CS enters the description

All tax withheld by employer(s)
When marked and code

field, estimates will calculate and print with lines 1 through 6 blank. To populate the estimate voucher information, the city code and Resident PSD code must be complete. The
Application of overpayment
field doesn't need to be completed.

Local Overpayment Application

For resident and part-year returns:
To apply a current-year refund toward estimates, the
Taxing authority city code
field on the PAEITEst screen must match the
City code
field on the PAEIT screen. (In other words, the local earned income tax return producing the refund must have estimates being produced for that resident or part-year return.)
For nonresident returns:
To apply a current-year refund toward estimates, the
City code
field on the PAEITEst screen must match the
City code
field on the PAEIT screen. (In other words, the local earned income tax return producing the refund must have estimates being produced for that non-resident return.)
Application of overpayment
The code options are the same as those in UltraTax/1040. They instruct UltraTax CS how to apply any current-year overpayment. The option selected affects what is printed on the tax form and the calculation of next year's estimated tax payments.

Amounts for code 5, 9 or estimates paid
These fields serve 2 purposes. Use these fields to specify the estimate amounts for each quarter, or use them to enter any estimate payments already made toward the next year.
If

9
in the
Local estimate declaration for
field, enter the desired quarterly payments in these fields. These amounts are only adjusted by entering code
7
or
8
in the
Application of overpayment
field.
If
1

Local estimate declaration for
code 1, or enter
