Overview

Use this screen to complete the SC 1040TC Tax Credits Worksheet. The worksheet provides supporting detail for each nonresident state credit for taxes paid calculation.
If UltraTax CS is used to calculate another state's return and it generates a credit for taxes paid to another state, UltraTax/1040-SC automatically includes a copy of that return. When filing on paper, a paper copy prints. When filing electronically, a portable document format (PDF) of the nonresident return is attached.

SC1040TC Worksheet - Credit for Taxes Paid to Another State

Use this section to complete the SC 1040TC Tax Credits Worksheet. If you're processing a multiple-state return, process the nonresident state(s) first, followed by the resident state. UltraTax/1040-SC transfers the necessary information from the nonresident return(s) to the resident return to complete the credit for taxes paid to other states.

sUltraTax/1040-SC automatically prints copies of state returns for nonresident states for which the credit for taxes paid to other states is calculated.
State postal code / name
If you're using UltraTax CS to file a nonresident return, UltraTax/1040-SC automatically completes the
State postal code
and
name
fields for the resident return. If you're not using UltraTax CS to file a nonresident return, enter the state postal code, and UltraTax/1040-SC completes the
name
field.
Income from nonresident state / ... / Other income
If you previously used UltraTax CS to complete a nonresident return, UltraTax/1040-SC automatically completes the
Income from nonresident state
fields for the resident state return. This information is used by the resident return to calculate the credit for taxes paid to the other state. If there is more than one nonresident state to consider, a separate input screen is created for each nonresident state. If you're not using UltraTax CS to file a return for which you would like to claim this credit, enter the taxable income from that state's return in the
Force
fields.
Other SC adjustments to nonresident state income
Use this field to enter miscellaneous net South Carolina adjustments to the other states' taxable income not otherwise accounted for by UltraTax CS. UltraTax CS accounts for business income, capital gains and losses attributable to real property, other gains and losses, rents, royalties, etc., and farm income. To review the calculations, refer to SC 1040TC Tax Credits Worksheet, line 2 for the nonresident state in question. The worksheet provides the detail on the calculation of the amount of income taxable to both states needed to complete SC 1040TC Tax Credits Worksheet, line 2.

If you're using UltraTax CS to complete a nonresident return, UltraTax/1040-SC automatically completes the

field for the resident state return.
