Overview

Use this screen to complete the Nursing Home Credit and Other Nonrefundable Credits on Form SC1040TC and SC Worksheet W - Two Wage Earner Credit When both Spouses Work.

1040TC - Nursing Home Credit, Other Nonrefundable Credits

Use this section to complete Form SC1040TC. Enter the amount of the applicable credit as calculated from the applicable tax credit form. For example, use Schedule TC-35 to figure the Alternative Motor Vehicle credit allowed and enter the amount on the screen in the appropriate field.
Carryover / unused credits from prior year
Enter the carryover of unused nonrefundable credits from prior years.
Nursing Home
Enter the amount of expenses paid for nursing home care. UltraTax CS automatically takes the expenses entered and multiplies the expenses by 20 percent, not to exceed a maximum credit of $300.00.
Solar Energy / Hydropower / Geothermal
Enter the amount of the current year credit as calculated on Form TC-38, Solar Energy or Small Hydropower System Credit. The form is available from the South Carolina Department of Revenue website, https://dor.sc.gov. See the instructions for the form to determine the eligibility of a taxpayer to take the credit.
Exceptional Needs Children Scholarship
See the instructions for Form TC-57A or Temporary Budget Proviso 1.80 to determine the eligibility of a taxpayer to take the credit. Enter the amount of the credit approved by the South Carolina Department of Revenue for the taxpayer. UltraTax CS limits the credit to 60% of the total tax liability as applicable.
Angel Investor
Enter the amount of the current year credit as calculated on Form TC-56, Angel Investor Credit. The form is available from the South Carolina Department of Revenue website, https://dor.sc.gov. See the instructions for the form to determine the eligibility of a taxpayer to take the credit.

Worksheet W - Two Wage Earner Credit

Use this section to complete SC Worksheet W - Two Wage Earner Credit When both Spouses Work.
W2 amounts paid by spouse
Enter wages paid to one spouse by the other, applicable to the period of residence in South Carolina. UltraTax CS subtracts these amounts from the wages line in federal Form 1040, Page 1.
Net earnings, gains / losses from disposition, transfer, or licensing of property created if applicable
Enter net earnings and gains (other than capital gains) from disposition, transfer, or licensing of property, if applicable, for the period of residence in South Carolina. UltraTax CS adds this amount to the Self-employment and other earned income field on Worksheet W.
Qualified earned income (Force)
Enter the amount of qualified earned income for the taxpayer and spouse applicable to the period of residence in South Carolina. If the field is blank, UltraTax CS calculates qualified earned income for the taxpayer and spouse for purposes of the married couple credit.

Other Refundable Credits

Use this section to complete Forms I-333 and I-334 for the Milk credit and Anhydrous Ammonia Additive credit, respectively. Both of these credits appear on Form SC1040, Page 3.
Number of pounds of milk produced and sold during the calendar year
Enter the number of pounds of milk produced and sold during the calendar year. This amount is used on Form I-334, line 1.
Number of certified quarters in the calendar year in which the credit applies
Enter the number of certified quarters in the calendar year in which the credit applies, as certified by the South Carolina Commissioner of Agriculture.
Amount expensed obtaining the anhydrous ammonia additive
Enter the amount the client expended to obtain the anhydrous ammonia additive.
Original or amended tax return filed on or before June 30, 2020
The Classroom Teacher Expenses Credit, South Carolina Form I-360, can be claimed only on an original or amended tax return filed on or before June 30, 2020. Mark this checkbox to indicate that the tax return is being filed on or before June 30, 2020. The credit is available to any classroom teacher in South Carolina who is not eligible for a reimbursement for school supplies under Budget Proviso 1A.12.
Taxpayer / Spouse is a classroom teacher

Fully reimbursed for teacher supplies and materials
Any classroom teacher, including those at South Carolina private schools, who isn't eligible for the teacher supplies reimbursement under Budget Proviso 1A.11 may claim the refundable Classroom Teacher Expenses Credit. The credit is available for qualifying expenditures that were not or won’t be reimbursed by the school or school district. Enter

Amount spent on or after July 1, 2024 on teacher supplies and materials
Enter the amount paid by the taxpayer or spouse for teacher supplies and materials. The Classroom Teacher Expenses Credit is limited to the smaller of the expenses paid or $400.
