Screen UTBank — Utah Direct Deposit, Electronic Funds Withdrawal (1040)

Direct Deposit and Electronic Funds Withdrawal

When you enter financial institution information in the federal
Bank
screen, direct deposit is the default for the Utah return. Enter
X
if you don't want to deposit the state refund directly into the client's account.
Use this field to have the client's refund, less applicable fees, deposited with Refund Advantage / EPS Financial. You can only use this field when filing electronically and a bank product is selected in the federal
RAL
screen.
Enter
X
to request an electronic withdrawal of funds for a balance due return. If you don't enter an
x
, there won't be a withdrawal.
If filing on or before the original due date, the date of withdrawal defaults to the original due date, unless you enter an earlier date. Otherwise, enter an anticipated filing date. The state initiates a withdrawal request upon processing completion. The transfer may happen on or after the requested date. There may be a delay of several days.

Account Information

Information transfers from the federal
Bank
screen. You can change account information for the Utah return. Verify this information annually with the taxpayer. To prevent unintended IRA excess contributions, IRA account information doesn't transfer. If you intend to make a deposit to an IRA, re-enter the account information here.
You need to enter the routing transit number, account number, and type. If these are blank, the account is ignored. The RTN needs to be 9 digits and the first 2 digits between 1 to 12, or 21 to 32. The account number may include digits and letters, but can't include spaces, hyphens, and other special characters. The institution name is for filing instructions.
States can't process international ACH transactions (IAT). Enter
X
to suppress the direct deposit or electronic funds withdrawal. A diagnostic message appears and the account information won't display on forms, client documents, or electronic returns. The electronic return will indicate IAT so that states can determine future transaction needs.
Enter the account holder's name when you request an electronic funds withdrawal for a balance due return. This is needed for electronic filing.
