Overview

Use this screen for entering client-specific transmittal letter information and selecting election statements to attach to this client's return.

Optional Addresses

Use state filing address instead of local filing address (Force)
When blank, UltraTax/1040-VA prints filing instructions using the local filing address based on the locality entered in the Gen screen. Use this field to change the filing instructions to use the state filing address for the tax return, estimates, or both. Electronically filed returns use the state filing address for the tax return as required by the state.

Custom Paragraphs

Paragraph: Number
Enter the paragraph number or select a paragraph number from the dropdown of available paragraphs. To create custom paragraphs, select
Setup
, then
1040 Individual
.  Under the

tab, select the
Letter Insert or Filing Instruction
or
Custom Paragraphs
tab.
Paragraph: Description
UltraTax CS automatically updates this field with the custom paragraph description associated with the selection made in the
Paragraph Number
field.

Election Statements

Use this section to select election statements to be attached to this client's return. Fields in this section are available for data entry only after election statements are created. To create election statements, select
Setup
, then
1040 Individual
.  Under the
Virginia
tab, select
Tax Elections
.
Election Number
Enter the election number that corresponds to the election statement required for this client. UltraTax CS prints up to 3 election statements with the return.
Election Description
UltraTax CS automatically updates this field with the election description related to the selection made in the
Election Number
field.

Filing Instructions

Virginia has a mandatory electronic payment requirement. When the current year return falls under the mandate, and the tax payment isn't made via electronic funds withdrawal, the filing instructions will default to instruct the taxpayer to remit the balance due via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT).
When taxpayers to don't fall under the mandate, but want to pay via EFT, use the following field:
EFT payment of balance due

to indicate payment for balance due return or estimates is to be made by Electronic Funds Transfer in the remittance paragraph of the filing instructions.
When the return meets the thresholds that require payment via EFT but the taxpayer prefers to pay by check, use the following field:
Opt out from electronic payment and pay by check

to indicate the payment for balance due returns and estimates is to be made by check in the remittance paragraph of the filing instructions.
