Screen ELF - Electronic Filing (1041)

General Information

Signature date
Enter the date the return is electronically signed by the fiduciary. This is a required entry when using e-file signature authentication and the IRS rejects any returns missing this information.
Preparer notes
Enter any information that is not part of the general footnote or an election statement that you want to include as an explanation for other data you entered within the electronic filing record.
Requested payment date
Along with bank information that you enter on the Bank screen, this payment date is a required entry to generate the electronic funds withdrawal (direct debit) payment in the Form 1041 electronic file. Enter a date no later than the 15th day of the fourth month after the year end. If you are e-filing after the original due date, enter the date of transmission.
Name control
Using information you’ve entered in the
Family name for electronic filing name control
field on the 1041 screen, the name control for the electronic file generates automatically and displays the text in the
Calculated
field. To override this value, you can enter the new value in the
Force
field.

Personal Identification Number (PIN)

Taxpayer PIN
Enter the taxpayer’s self-selected Personal Identification Number (PIN). The PIN is the equivalent of an electronic signature, so it does not proforma from year to year. This is in accordance with the IRS procedural steps that participating PIN program practitioners must follow.
Electronic return originator (ERO) PIN
Enter the Preparer Personal Identification Number (PIN), which is a self-selected set of five numbers. The PIN is the equivalent of an electronic signature, so it does not proforma from year to year. This is in accordance with the IRS procedural steps that participating PIN program practitioners must follow.
