Electronic filing forms and payment options

Per the Illinois Department of Revenue (DOR), if you e-file the federal return, you need to e-file the Illinois return. There is no opt-out form.

Forms included in the e-file

The Illinois DOR and UltraTax CS support electronic filing of the following fiduciary returns:
  • Calendar year
  • Fiscal year
  • Short year
  • Estimates
  • Extension

Forms not supported for e-filing

The Illinois DOR doesn’t support electronic filing of the following:
  • Amended returns

Payment methods

The Illinois DOR accepts direct debit (EFW), electronic funds transfer (EFT), and online payment for balance due returns. You need to pay balances greater than $20,000 using EFT or EFW. You can e-file extension payments and estimate payments.
Direct deposit of refunds is supported.

E-filing notes

  • No signature form; enter the dates on the ILELF screen to sign the return
  • No PDF attachments are permitted
  • A general footnote is not part of the electronic file
  • Fed attachment is needed for return (not extension)
