General Information

Maryland exemption (Force)
The entity type on the federal 1041 screen determines the exemption amount. An exemption does not calculate for agency relationships, bankruptcy estates, grantor type trusts, or electing small businesses that only have S corporation income. A $600 exemption calculates for a decedent’s estate and a $200 exemption for all other entity types.
Bankruptcy estate - tax from Form 502
Enter the amount of tax calculated on Form 502 for the bankruptcy estate. Prepare Form 504 only as a transmittal for the return.
Use special allocations for beneficiaries amounts
If you allocate income to beneficiaries by specific income types on the federal return, enter
X
to use the special allocation method for income and adjustments on the state return. If this box is blank, adjustments and income allocate according to each beneficiary’s share of distributable net income.
