Electronic filing forms and payment options

The New Jersey Division of Revenue (DOR) requires e-filing if you're preparing 11 or more returns. New Jersey has an opt-out Form NJ-1040-O. To opt-out of electronic filing and populate NJ-1040-O, go to the NJELF screen and enter a reason for not filing electronically.
Forms included in the e-file
The New Jersey (DOR) and UltraTax CS support electronic filing of the following forms:
  • Form NJ-1041 (including amended)
  • Form NJ-1041SB for electing small business trusts - both ESBTs and PESBTs (including amended); QSSTs are filed on Form NJ-1041
  • Form NJ-630, Extension
  • Form NJ-1040ES, Estimates
Forms not supported for e-filing
The New Jersey DOR doesn’t allow e-filing of the following:
  • Returns with foreign addresses for the preparer, fiduciary, or beneficiaries
Payment methods
You can pay balances due via electronic funds withdrawal (EFW), by check and electronic funds transfer (EFT). You can make balance due payments for e-filed extensions electronically. If the payment date or bank info is missing for extensions, the e-file won’t create. Refunds are by check only; direct deposit is not available.
.
Estimates
The main return doesn't include estimates. When you create estimates for electronic filing, they create separately for each quarter. New Jersey will debit the bank account on the date included from the Estimate Financial Transaction Record for each quarter.
You can recreate and retransmit rejected estimated payments. Simply create estimate e-files that haven’t been transmitted yet.
