R0000-068 e-file error

If the Signature Option "PIN Number" is selected (the element "SignatureOption" in the Return Header has a value of "PIN Number") then the following fields must have a value in the Return Header: "PractitionerPIN", "TaxpayerPIN", "Name" of the "Partner", "Title" of the "Partner", "DateSigned" and "PINEnteredBy" Indicator.
You may receive this error while creating an electronic file or as an e-file rejection. This code simply means there is missing data entry for the e-file authorization.

Solution

If you receive this rejection when intending to file a 1065 return using the PIN method (as opposed to attaching a PDF of the signed Form 8453-PE or Form 8453-B), check the following:
  1. Go to the Electronic Filing Folder.
  2. Open the ELF screen.
  3. Complete the
    Signature date of partner signing return
    ,
    Taxpayer PIN
    , and
    ERO PIN
    fields.
  4. Go to the General folder.
  5. Open the Contact screen.
  6. Complete the
    Title of partner signing return, if different from Partner or LLC Member
    field.
  7. If you have not specified a tax matters person by selecting a partner as such in the Partner Data Entry, then you must complete the
    Name of partner signing return
    field on the Contact screen.
