Screen 8832 - Entity Classification Election (1065)

Overview

You are required to file two copies of Form 8832. One copy of Form 8832 is attached to Form 1065 (if switching the entity of the return to a partnership) and the second copy is filed separately directly with the IRS. The copy filed with Form 1065 is included in the electronic file. The second copy isn't electronically filed and will still need to be separately paper filed with the IRS.

, β€œNone” prints on Form 8832, Page 1, Line 4b.
When switching the entity of the client to a partnership, use
Type of entity
in the
OthInfo
screen to indicate the type of entity for Form 8832, Page 2, line 6. However, if
Switching to a non-partnership entity
on this screen is marked, use this field to indicate the type of entity to which the client is switching.
Enter the date the Form 8832 copy filed directly with the IRS is to be filed. If you leave this field blank, "AS SOON AS POSSIBLE" prints for the date due on the filing instructions.
The application automatically determines the service center to which Form 8832 IRS copy should be mailed based on the partnership address entered in the
1065
screen. Enter information in this field only if you want to override the calculated service center.
