1120 E-file errors

R0000-055-02 e-file error

If 'SignatureOptionCd' in the Return Header has the value "Binary Attachment 8453 Signature Document", then a binary attachment with description "8453 Signature Document" must be present in the return.
This error happens when the return is missing an attachment for form 8453.

Solution

If you're using Form 8453 as the electronic signature form, do the following:
  1. Go to the
    Electronic Filing
     input folder.
  2. Open the
    ELF
     screen.
  3. Complete the
    Signature date
     field, but leave the fields blank in the
    Electronic Filing Personal Identification Number (PIN) Information
     section.
  4. After completing the return, print out a copy of
    one
     of the following forms:
    • Form 8453-C, U.S. Corporation Income Tax Declaration for an IRS e-file Return
    • Form 8453-S, U.S. S Corporation Income Tax Declaration for an IRS e-file Return
    • Form 8453-I, Foreign Corporation Income Tax Deduction for an IRS e-file Return
  5. Sign the form as the Electronic Return Originator (ERO) and have an authorized officer of the Corporation sign the form as well.
  6. Attach the form to the return:
    1. Open
      Edit
      .
    2. Select
      Electronic Filing Attachments
      .
    3. Select
      Add
      .
    4. In the
      Attachment title
       field, select
      8453 Signature Document
      .
    5. In the
      Product
       field, select
      Federal
      .
    6. If you are using a document scanned into FileCabinet CS (which needs to be embedded), select
      FileCabinet CS
       and choose
      Select
       to select the document. If the document is
      not
       in FileCabinet CS, select
      File
       and select
      Browse
       to search for the document you want to attach. The document will need to be in PDF format.
    7. Select
      OK
       to return to the
      Electronic Filing Attachment
       window.
    8. Select
      View Attachment
       if you want to see the PDF file that will be attached to the electronic file or select
      OK
       to close the window.
  7. Recreate and retransmit the e-file.
