R0000-933-02 e-file error

If "Amended Return" or (Superseded for 1120/1120S/1120-F/1041) checkbox is not checked, then taxpayer TIN in the Return Header must not be the same as a TIN of a previously accepted paper return for the return type and tax period indicated in the tax return. (value #########, rule R0000-933-02).
This happens when the IRS e-file database verifies that an accepted return already uses this TIN.

Solution

Check the following:
  • Taxpayer Identification Number (EIN)
    • Go to the
      General
      input folder.
    • Select the
      1120
      screen.
    • Check the
      EIN
field to make sure it's correct. If there's a typo or incorrect information, correct it then recreate and retransmit the e-file.
  • If the
    EIN
is correct and this return is meant to be amended or superseded,
    • Superseding
      • Go to the
        General
        input folder.
      • Select the
        1120
        screen.
      • Check that the
        Superseding return
field has a mark. If it's empty, check the box and recreate and retransmit the e-file.
    • Amending
      • Go to the
        Separate Filings
        input folder.
      • Use the
        Amend
        and
        Amend-2
screens to complete the amending data entry, then recreate and retransmit the e-file.
  • If the return isn't an amended or superseded return, you'll need to file the return on paper.
