Form 2848 and 8821 General Information

The application automatically determines the appropriate POA Service Center where Form 2848 or 8821 should be mailed based on the state postal code entered in the 1120 screen.
You can also use the preparer's address rather than the IRS in the filing instructions. To do this, mark the
Return Form 2848 or 8821 to preparer
checkbox in the Other tab accessed via the Setup, 1120 Corporation, Federal tab, then Other Return Options button. This option applies to all clients.

if no copies of notices and communications from the IRS are to be sent to the appointee on Form 8821. If you mark this field, checkbox 5a is automatically cleared on Form 8821. This field is used to complete Form 8821, line 5b and is not applicable to Form 2848.

Representative and Appointee Information

under Setup, Office Configuration, then Preparers. The information entered in this dialog will transfer automatically to the POA screen when the preparer's name is selected. If more than four representatives are entered, only the first four will be included with the POA form.

Tax Matters Information

Use this section to enter information about the tax matters to be listed on the form.

Authorized Acts

Use this section to enter information about authorized acts.

if the power of attorney or authorization is for a specific use not recorded on CAF. UltraTax CS/1120 uses this information for Form 2848, line 4 or Form 8821, line 4.
Enter any specific deletions to the acts listed on Form 2848, line 5.

if prior powers of attorney or authorizations are not being revoked. UltraTax CS/1120 uses this information to complete Form 2848, line 6 or Form 8821, line 6.
