Clear "Members of a federal consolidated group cannot be e-filed..." diagnostic

You can get this ELF Critical diagnostic if a return is marked as a member of a consolidated return:
Members of a federal consolidated group cannot be electronically filed as separate returns.
If the member is filing a separate return, do the following to clear the diagnostic.
  1. Open the member return whose return will be filed separately for state purposes.
  2. In federal Screen ELF, clear the
    File this return electronically
    checkbox, and select
    Enter
    on your keyboard.
  3. Go back and re-mark
    File this return electronically
    .
  4. Go to the state return and check if the diagnostic is still there.
  5. If it's still there, try the following:
    1. Go to
      File
      , then
      New Client
and create a new, temporary, 1120 C Corporation return.
    2. Go to
      File
      , then
      New Client
and create a new, temporary, 1120 Consolidated C return.
    3. When you create the new 1120 Consolidated C return, select
      Advanced Properties
and add the temporary 1120 C return as the parent and the affected return as a subsidiary.
    4. Select OK and allow the consolidated return to calculate.
    5. While still in the temporary 1120 consolidated return, choose
      File
      ,
      Client Properties
      ,
      Advanced Properties
      .
    6. Remove the subsidiary from the temporary consolidated return and select OK.
    7. Review the return that had the diagnostic to ensure it is no longer marked as part of a consolidated return and the diagnostic has been cleared.
    8. Delete the temporary parent and temporary consolidated returns using
      File
      , then
      Delete
      .
