General Information

Use calendar year forms for fiscal year filers
The application is designed so that any client processed has the appropriate Philadelphia tax return required for filing. When processing a Business Income and Receipts Tax return, the application selects the appropriate set of Philadelphia forms, depending on the calendar or fiscal year-end.
Because the fiscal year Philadelphia BIRT forms are not available when calendar year forms are released, the initial release of Philadelphia software provides a non-submittable set of forms so that you could prepare and review a draft of the Philadelphia return for your fiscal year-end clients without waiting for the City of Philadelphia to release the fiscal BIRT forms.
When this field is marked, the application calculates the fiscal year Philadelphia tax return using the current calendar year forms. This should be used to estimate taxes and complete data entry. Fiscal year filers are required to file the fiscal Philadelphia forms.
