Use this tab to enter interest rates and setup information for UltraTax CS to help you prepare a federal Form 990. From this screen, you can open other windows and dialogs to modify default client documents, set invoice prices, modify the default print collations for input screens and returns, modify watch fields, modify default complexity values, and enter more 990-specific information.
To open this tab, select
Setup

Depending on your security configuration, you might be prompted to enter the master password before you can open any entity type's tab.
Fields and buttons
Interest rates
The rates known at the time of shipment are displayed. To change the rate for any of the displayed periods, select the appropriate field and enter the new rate as a whole number. For example, enter
11
for 11%.
Document format group box
Separate pages for Transmittal Letter and federal and state Filing Instructions
Select this option to have UltraTax CS print a transmittal letter for each client and separate filing instructions for each federal and state return. Note that this option is marked by default.

To combine the transmittal letter and all filing instructions (federal and state) into one document in letter format, select
Combine Transmittal Letter and Filing Instruction in letter format

To print a separate transmittal letter, but combine the federal and state filing instructions, select
Separate Transmittal Letter, but combine federal and state Filing Instructions

Separate Transmittal Letter, but combine federal and state Filing Instructions
By default, the application prints a transmittal letter for each client and separate filing instructions for each federal and state return. Select this option to print a separate transmittal letter for each client but combine the federal and state filing instructions into one document in letter format.

If you select this,
Filing Instructions
in all state tabs is replaced with
Instructions Insert
, which you can select to view or edit the state's filing instructions.
The state filing instructions are included in the combined filing instructions at print time but are represented only by a {State Instructions Insert} variable when you select
Filing Instructions
on the
Federal
tab. You must use the Instructions Insert button in the state tab to view or edit the state instructions before printing.
Combine Transmittal Letter and Filing Instructions in letter format
By default, the application prints a transmittal letter for each client and separate filing instructions for each federal and state return. Select this option to combine the transmittal letter and all filing instructions (federal and state) into one document in letter format.
note
If you select this option, the Filing Instructions button in the Federal tab is disabled because the federal filing instructions will be included in the transmittal letter. Select the
Letters & Emails
button to view or edit the federal filing instructions that are contained in the letter.
If you select this option, the
Filing Instructions
button in all state tabs is replaced with a
Letter Insert
button, which you can select to view or edit the state's filing instructions.

Additional information group box
New Client Options button
Select this button to open the
New Client Options
window where you can set options that will apply to all 990 clients subsequently added.
Other Return Options button
Select this button to open the
Other Return Options
screen where you can set options that apply to all 990 clients.
Documents group box
Letters & Emails button
Select this button to open the
Letters & Emails
window from which you can open the
Document Editing
window. In this window, you can add up to 5 new transmittal letters, or edit the transmittal letters provided with this application.
Filing Instructions button
Select this button to open the
Filing Instructions
window, from which you can open the
Document Editing
window. In this window, you can edit the filing instructions provided with this application.

This button is disabled if you selected the
Combine Transmittal Letter and Filing Instructions in letter format
option in the Document format group box on the
Federal
tab.
You can't create new filing instructions, but you can modify the ones provided with the application.
Invoice button
Select
Invoice
to open either the
Invoices
window (select
Text & Format Options
from the dropdown list) or the
Invoice Pricing
window (select
Pricing
from the dropdown list). From the
Invoices
window, you can open the
Document Editing
window. In the
Document Editing
window, you can create up to 5 additional invoices for each application, edit the invoice provided with this application, and choose invoice formatting options. In the
Invoice Pricing
, you can enter the amount to charge per form or item for this application.
note
To override the prices that you set in the
Invoice Pricing
window on an individual client basis, select
View
, then
View/Customize Invoice
.
Tax Elections button
Select this button to open the
Elections
window from which you can open the
Document Editing
window. In this window, you can edit the tax elections provided with this application or add additional elections.
Slipsheets button
Select this button to open the
Slipsheets
window, from which you can open the
Document Editing
window. In this window, you can edit the slipsheets provided with this application.
Collation group box
Input Screens button
Select this button to open either the
Input Screen Printing
window or the
Data Entry Display
. You can use the
Input Screen Printing
window to change the default print conditions of this application's input screens, and the
Data Entry Display
to configure the order and visibility of input screens and folders for a specific entity.

To override the collation set in the
Input Screen Printing
window on an individual client basis, select

Tax Return button
Select this button to open the
Return Collation
window in which you can change the default print collations for returns processed with this application or for the Client Organizer package.

Other group box
Watch Fields button
Select this to open the
Watch Fields
window, where you can modify or remove existing watch fields or their descriptions. You can also restore the default watch fields and descriptions using the
Watch Fields
window.
note
You can't add new watch fields using the window opened by this button. To add new watch fields, right-click the desired field in form view and select
Watch Field
from the context menu.
Client Complexity button
Select this button to open the
Client Complexity
to modify the default complexity values for all clients for the installed returns and applications and the federal input screens. You can also use this window to restore the default complexity values or print a report of the entered complexity values.
note
You can define a client-specific complexity value to be added to the calculated value based on amounts that you set in the
Client Complexity
or override the calculated complexity value on a client-by-client basis on the
