Payments and Credits

Prior year overpayment applied
The amount you enter displays as a credit in the Composition of prepayments sections of Forms CT-5 and CT-13.
Overpayment credited: Form CT-
Enter the form number, period, and the amount of overpayment credited from prior years. The amount you enter displays on Forms CT-13 and CT-5 in the Composition of prepayments section.
Treat calculated amounts as paid
The calculated estimates are proforma’d if they were used to prepare the client’s return in the prior year. When you enter
X
in this field, the amounts copy to the
Amount Paid
column from the
Calculated Amount
column. The amounts are treated as timely unless you enter dates in the
Date Paid
column.
Specific payments if unequal or not timely
Enter prepayments of estimated tax payments made in the
2nd
,
3rd
, and
4th payment
fields. This information displays on Form CT-13 in the Composition of prepayments section. Enter the actual amount of each payment in the appropriate prepayment field, and enter the date. Do not include any prior-year overpayment amount in the
2nd payment
field.

Extensions

Calculate extension
Choose an option to calculate the extension based on the information entered and to prepare Form CT-5 or CT-5.1 for the CT-13 return as applicable.
Extended due date
For Form CHAR500, enter the date to use as the extended due date in the filing instructions. For Form CT-13, if you print an extension by choosing File > Print Extensions, or you enter

in the
Calculate extension: Form CT-13
field, the extended due date displays in this field.
Balance due on extension greater than or equal to $250 (Force)
The amount you enter in this field displays as the total balance due, entering
1
in the
Calculate extension: Form CT-13
field, completes the
Extended due date
field, and transfers the amount to the
Paid with extension
field.
