Reassign Assets dialog

Occasionally, you may need to move assets from one business activity, situs, or association to another. Use the Reassign Assets window to select assets to reassign without re-entering asset data.
To open this window, in the Asset List window, choose Edit, Reassign Assets.

Fields and buttons

Assets available to reassign
Lists all assets that are available for selection.
  • Activity:
     Select an activity from the dropdown list for the
    Activity
     box.
  • Situs:
     Select a location from the
    Situs
     dropdown list to list only those assets that are assigned to a specific situs.
    note
    Only assets that are not in multiple-unit activities can be reassigned to different situses through the Reassign Assets window. Multiple-unit activity assets are assigned to a situs based on the activity in which they reside. To change the situs for a multiple-unit activity, open the UltraTax CS input screen for that activity and edit the state postal code in the General Information section. However, 1065 clients with tax years that end 12/31/16 or later are an exception. Assets in the Business and COGS folder are multiple-units and can have their situs reassigned.
  • Association Value:
     Use the Association Value boxes to customize the asset listing according to group, location, property type, division, or any custom association that maintains a list.
You can change the columns that are displayed here using the checkboxes in the Focus group box.
Assets to reassign
Lists the assets you have selected.
note
Tip:
 To remove an asset from this list, select the asset, then select Remove. The asset returns to the Assets available to reassign pane.
Activity
To display only those assets contained in a specific activity folder, select that activity from the dropdown list.
If you want all assets in all activities to be available for selection, select
(All Activities)
 from the dropdown list.
Situs
To display only those assets that are assigned to a specific situs, select that situs from the dropdown list.
  • To have all assets for all situses available for selection, select
    All Situs
     from the dropdown list.
  • To have all assets that are not assigned to any situs available for selection, select
    No Situs
     from the dropdown list.

Display / Association Value
Display column
Use the checkboxes next to the association titles to determine which columns are displayed in the Assets available to reassign pane. Note that marking and clearing these checkboxes does not affect the assets that are available to reassign.
Association Value
A box appears here for each association that maintains a list.
Use these to limit the assets that are available in the Assets available to reassign pane.
  • To include all assets that are assigned to a particular association, select
    (All [association])
     from the dropdown list.
  • To include only assets that are assigned to a particular association value, select that value from the dropdown list.
To include all assets that have not been assigned to a particular association, select
(No [association] association)
 from the dropdown list. For example, if you want to include in the list all assets that are not assigned to a location, select
(No Location association)
 from the dropdown list.
Category
Select the category (activity, situs, or association) to which you want to reassign the selected assets. Then, select the value to which you want to reassign the selected assets from the
Value
 box.
Value
Select the value to which you want to reassign the selected assets.
  • When
    Activity
     is selected as the category, you can select all non-multi-unit activities and multi-unit activities that are set up for the client.
  • When an association is selected as the category, you can select any value that has been entered for that association, or you can select no association.
  • When
    Situs
     is selected as the category, you can select any situs from the dropdown list.
