Wrong amount retrieved by data sharing

Scenario

You may find that the wrong amount is retrieved in a client by a data sharing feature. Try the following troubleshooting tips to resolve this problem.

Troubleshooting tip 1: Refresh the data sharing files

  1. Open the client containing the data to be data shared.
  2. Select
    File
    , then
    Preview
    to refresh the data sharing files.
  3. Open the client that is to receive the shared data and verify that the amount is now correct.

Troubleshooting tip 2: Re-enter the EIN

  1. In the client that is to receive the data shared information, go to the input screen (such as the
    K1
    or
    K1T
    screen).
  2. Delete the
    EIN
    .
  3. Go to a different screen, then return and re-enter the
    EIN
    .

Troubleshooting tip 3: Delete the receiving client's K1 unit

  1. Go to the
    K1
    or
    K1T
    window (under the K1 1065, 1120S or K1 1041 folders).
  2. Select
    Edit
    , then
    Delete Screen Data
    .
  3. Select
    File
    , then
    Preview
    to recalculate the return.
  4. Open the client containing the data to be shared, then select
    File
    and
    Preview
    to refresh the data sharing.
  5. Re-open the client that is to receive shared data to verify if the amount is now correct.

Troubleshooting tip 4: Rebuild data sharing

  1. With both clients closed, select
    Help
    , then
    Repair
    .
  2. Select the client you will share information from then
    Rebuild Data Sharing
    .
  3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for each client involved in the data sharing process, then select
    Done
    .
  4. Open the client with data to be data shared, and select
    File
    , then
    Preview
    .
  5. Open the client that will receive shared data and check if the amount is now correct.

Troubleshooting tip 5: Delete the data sharing export file

  1. With both clients closed, select
    Help
    , then
    Repair
    .
  2. Select the client you will share information from, then
    Decompress Client
    .
  3. Mark the checkbox next to the
    Data Sharing Export File
    , then select
    Delete
    .
  4. Select
    Yes
    , then
    Done
    .
  5. Open the client containing the data to be shared, then select
    File
    and
    Preview
    .
  6. Open the client to that will receive shared data and check if the amount is now correct.
