Suppress all state and local e-files for a specific entity

If you entered data in the
File this return electronically
field or
File extension electronically
field in the federal ELF screen, UltraTax CS automatically creates electronic files for state returns attached to the client. To suppress the creation of all state and local electronic files for state and local electronic files for a given entity, follow these steps.

  • This procedure affects only clients subsequently added to UltraTax CS.
  • To suppress the state e-files for existing clients, mark the
    Suppress the creation of: State electronic file(s) when only filing the federal return/extension electronically
    checkbox in the ELF screen.
  • You can also suppress the creation of state and local electronic files for all entities on a state-by-state basis, all state and local electronic files for the open return, or certain state electronic files for the open return.
  1. Select
    Setup
    , then the entity type (for example, 1040 Individual).
  2. Select the
    Federal
    tab.
  3. Select
    New Client Options
    .
  4. In the Other section, mark the
    Suppress state electronic file when filing federal return/extension electronically (Screen ELF)
    checkbox.
    note
    For some entities, you need to select the
    Other
    tab in the New Client Options window to mark the checkbox.
  5. Select
    OK
    to close the New Client Options window.
  6. Select
    OK
    to close the Product Information window.
