Use the Display Settings dialog to choose which UltraTax CS elements display on what monitors. UltraTax CS is designed to simultaneously manage up to four separate monitors, enabling you to design your own monitor configuration to meet your workflow preferences.
To open this dialog, choose Window then Display Settings, or choose Setup, User Preferences, then Monitor Settings tab, select the Edit button, and then choose Continue.&
Fields & buttons
Allow UT to be displayed on monitor [n]
Use this field to decide which of your monitors you want to use for UltraTax CS, which can accommodate up to four monitors.
- One monitor to display input screen data.
- Up to two monitors to display calculated tax forms and prior-year data.
- One monitor to display calculated tax forms for your client to view.
Input screens (with toolbar)
Mark this checkbox in the column for the monitor on which you want to view input screens. Use the
Folder block
drop-down list to decide if you want the folders block to share the display area with input screens or if you want to display the folders block as wide or narrow.Form view
Mark this checkbox in the column for the monitor on which you want to view form view. After you mark the
Form view
checkbox, you can mark the checkbox to either share the display area or to launch form view when the client's return is opened.note
The
Launch on client open
checkbox is not available if you choose to display input screens and form view on the same monitor.Prior year view
Mark this checkbox in the column for the monitor on which you want to view prior-year data. Use the
Folder block
drop-down list to decide if you want the folders block to share the display area with input screens or if you want to display the folders block as wide or narrow. In addition, you can choose to launch the prior-year view when the client's return is opened.note
The
Launch on client open
checkbox is not available if you choose to display input screens and prior-year view on the same monitor.Statements
Mark this checkbox in the column for the monitor on which you want to view statements. You can use the drop-down list to choose to open all statements with data, only open the current statement, or to open statements when you open the corresponding input screen.
Diagnostics
Mark this checkbox in the column for the monitor on which you want to view diagnostic messages. You can use the drop-down list to choose to display diagnostics as horizontal tabs in a floating window, vertical lists in a floating window, in a right pane, in a bottom pane, or in a top pane. In addition, you can choose to launch diagnostics when the client's return is opened.
Client view
Mark this checkbox in the column for the monitor on which you want to show only the Client View.

When the
Client view
checkbox is marked, no other checkboxes for that monitor are available because you cannot display anything other than Client view on that monitor. Similarly, if you mark the Input screens (with toolbar)
checkbox, the Client view
checkbox is not available.Thumbnail of client view
Mark this checkbox in the column for the monitor on which you want to see a thumbnail of what displays on the monitor dedicated to show the client view.
Tile views
Mark this checkbox in the column for the monitor on which you want to tile views. Depending on your other choices for the monitor, you can choose to share the folder display area while in input screen view, form view, or prior-year view.
VO/TS Resolutions
Select this button to define your monitor resolutions, which will enable you to use up to three monitors.
note
- This button is displayed only if you use UltraTax CS in the Virtual Office CS environment or in a terminal server environment.
- UltraTax CS will automatically detect up to four monitors. Based on your version of Citrix software, this detection could be incorrect. Use this dialog if the automatic detection is incorrect. Any data entered here will override the UltraTax CS automatic detection of resolutions and monitors.
Identify
Select this button to identify your computer monitors for the purposes of choosing your display settings.
note
UltraTax CS displays as designed when your screen scale is set to 100%. This setting is found in your Windows Display Settings.
