Use UltraTax CS Source Data Entry

Source Data Entry (SDE) lets you enter data from a client's source documents, such as W-2, and export it to the client's return in UltraTax CS.
Once data is entered, you can share the data with UltraTax/1040 client returns using the Data Sharing feature.
  1. Open Source Data Entry. You can do this from the desktop icon or within UltraTax CS by selecting
    Utilities
    , then
    UltraTax CS Source Data Entry
    .
  2. Select the form you need to enter.
  3. Fill in the form fields with the information from your source document. Use dropdown menus or type in data as needed.
  4. After entering all the data, review everything for accuracy, then select
    Export to UltraTax CS
    .
  5. Repeat steps 2-3 for any more forms you need to enter for the client.
  6. When you're done exporting, open UltraTax CS.
  7. Open the client's return, and the
    Data Sharing Pending Updates
    window should appear.
  8. Review and accept, retain existing, or postpone the import.
  9. Once you've accepted the data, review the amounts for accuracy, then select
    Done
    .
Amounts that are from SDE will appear in blue in the client's tax return in UltraTax CS. You can also review what you imported into the return by going to
