UltraTax CS installation failed

Installations can fail when the internet connection is weak or the antivirus is interfering.

Scenario

During the UltraTax CS product installation, you may see a
Result: Failed
status for the license, platform, or a federal entity like 1040, 1065, or 1120.

Solutions

On the machine that's running the installation:
  1. Check your internet connection. If you're on a wireless network (Wi-Fi), move to an ethernet connection. We can't support Wi-Fi because the connection can be unstable.
  2. Create the required antivirus exceptions for UltraTax CS. Without these exceptions, you're likely to have problems updating your software throughout the year. You can also lose client data.
    note
You can try disabling your AV, but if that doesn't work you should still set the AV exceptions. Disabling doesn't necessarily turn the software off completely.
If your internet connection is stable and you have antivirus exceptions created on the computer running the installation, try reinstalling UltraTax CS:
  1. Go to
    X:\WinCSI\
, where X represents the drive where the application is installed.
  2. Right-click the
    UTYY
folder, where YY represents the last 2 digits of the year version of UltraTax CS.
  3. Select
    Rename
    .
  4. Add
    .old
to the end of the folder name.
  5. Run the installation again.
