Performance tips for opening and running Virtual Office CS applications
- The number of printers you have installed on your local workstation could affect the time it takes you to sign in or open an application. The process of auto-creating and mapping these printers on Virtual Office CS is resource-intensive. The number of printers installed has a direct impact on the amount of time it takes to sign in to the Virtual Office CS server.
- Delete any unused or test printers to help maintain server responsiveness and improve sign-in times.
- Check your installed printers, then delete any that you no longer need.
- Sign-in times, as well as data entry and general application performance, are largely dependent on connection latency and bandwidth.
- Limit unnecessary bandwidth intensive processes in your office (such as internet radio or streaming videos) to avoid compromising the quality of your communication with the Virtual Office CS server.
- If data entry is slow in Virtual Office CS applications, but connection latency and bandwidth appear fine, performance issues may be caused by interference from antivirus or other 3rd party applications or certain firewall settings. Firewalls and antivirus applications have many different settings that can impact performance. For example; if exclusions aren't set for local Citrix files and directories, the active scanning of the antivirus application may degrade performance.
- Consult a qualified technician to maximize settings for your environment.
- Known firewall configuration issues include the following:
- F5- Nagel Algorithm settings
- SonicWall – Deep Packet Inspection settings and or Flexible Packet Inspection Settings
- There may be other settings for other hardware and software firewalls that may cause similar effects. These should be addressed by a qualified network technician or the specific firewall product support technicians.
