Integrate with CS Professional Suite

Import client information from UltraTax CS

You can import client setup information from existing client records in UltraTax CS to
Workpapers CS
. This time-saving process removes the need to create a tax engagement client from scratch in
Workpapers CS
.

Before you begin

  • You'll need UltraTax CS (v.2013.3.0 or later) installed on the same machine or server as
    Workpapers CS
    .
  • You'll need to enable
    Accounting and/or the Workpapers service
     in the application.
    1. Go to
      Setup
      , then the
      Clients
       screen.
    2. Select the
      Main
       tab.
    3. Enable the
      Accounting and/or the Workpapers service
      .
  • Each client record in UltraTax CS needs to have information in the following fields.
    • Client ID.
    • EIN/SSN.
    • Address.
    • State.

Steps in UltraTax CS

  1. Select
    Help
    , then select
    Repair
    .
  2. Select the
    Misc
     tab, then select
    CS Accounting Products
    .
  3. Select
    Populate
     to create an export file.

Steps in
Workpapers CS

  1. Select
    File
    , then select
    Import
    .
  2. Select
    Populate Clients from UtraTax CS
    .
  3. Select an entity, a single client, or multiple clients.
note
  • Existing clients with the same ID in both
    Workpapers CS
     and UltraTax CS are not displayed in the Client Selection screen of the wizard.
  • You can print an import summary from the last screen of the wizard.
The populated fields in UltraTax CS determine the information created for the client in
Workpapers CS
. The following tables identify the data fields in UltraTax CS and the corresponding fields in
Workpapers CS
.

  • After creating the export file in UltraTax, you should see a file called
    UT2ACS.xml
     in the
    WinCSI\Worpapers CS Data\Data\Integration\Tax
     folder. You can open this file with a web browser or Notepad to view the information that is in the file.
    note
    If any information is missing for one or more clients, the application file won’t show up at all in the Populate wizard.
  • Workpapers CS
     needs a FIRM database for integration and data sharing to work with UltraTax CS. The format of the
    Workpapers CS
     database name needs to be
    ACS_<FirmID>_Firm
    . For example, ACS_0_Firm, ACS_999_Firm, ACS_798046_Firm_. Also, integration and data sharing won’t work if there are multiple FIRM databases.
