Azure Map Panel

The Azure Maps component presents location-based iSheet data within HighQ pages, offering a configurable way to display street maps, location markers, legends, and related record details from a centralised location.
note
You do not need an Azure Maps subscription to use this panel. The required Azure Maps subscription is provided by Thomson Reuters as part of the panel setup.
Map appearance can be customised through options such as map type, colour settings, borders, labels, legends, and detail tables.

This panel is available only for System-level and Custom Page dashboards. HighQ Premium clients can access the panel as an additional add-on and create one Azure Maps panel in trial mode. To enable the full version, please contact your Account Manager or Customer Success representative.

Adding an Azure Map panel

To add an Azure Maps panel, select the
Azure Maps
option from the
Enhanced Interactive Data Visualisation
section of the
Interactive Data Visualisation
panels selector.
In the configuration prompt, select the total number of maps to include in the panel (maximum of 20).
Based on your selection, the configuration modal will open, allowing you to set up each map individually.

Map Details

Title
- Enter the name of the panel.
Name
(required) - Enter the name of the map. This is the label displayed when users switch between multiple maps within the same panel.

Map Type

Once a Map name is provided, the
Map type
options become available.
  • Street view
    (default) - Displays an interactive Azure Maps map with HTML markers at geocoded addresses. Marker positions are taken from address mappings stored either in an iSheet metadata column or in a separate configuration sheet. Selecting a marker opens a popup, and markers change colour when filtered by search results.
  • Colored regions view
    - Displays colour-coded geographic regions based on the selected map's data.
You can switch between these options after the map has been created.

Data Source

Choose the site and corresponding iSheet that contains the data to display.
Site
- Choose the Site that holds the iSheet data you want to use.
iSheet
- Choose the iSheet and the relevant iSheet view.

Street view

Applies when

Initial position
- Determines the default centre location and zoom level displayed when a street map loads. It controls:
  • Selected position
    - The geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude) that the map is centred on when first displayed, and
  • Selected zoom
    - How closely the map is zoomed in or out when it loads, using an Azure Maps scale from 0 (world view) to 20 (street-level view).
Location column
- Specifies the iSheet column containing location values, used to match records to geographic coordinates. Select the column containing the geographic information to display, such as country names, regions, cities, office locations, or other location identifiers that align with your map configuration.

Only single line text and choice columns are supported.
Address mapping
- Defines how location values from an iSheet are linked to geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude) so that records can be displayed as markers on a street map. The Maps component uses the values in the location column and matches them to coordinate data through an address mapping configuration; marker positions are then plotted using those coordinates.

  • The map location is automatically stored in the
    IDV Metadata
    column of the iSheet view. Do not remove this column from the view, as the Azure Maps panel relies on it to function correctly.
  • Ensure that the iSheet includes an
    Address
    column, as it is required for address mapping.
Two address mapping methods are supported:
  • Metadata column mapping
    - Location-to-coordinate mappings are stored in a dedicated iSheet metadata column, each containing a location value and its corresponding latitude and longitude.
  • Configuration sheet mapping
    - Location-to-coordinate mappings are stored in a separate configuration iSheet, containing keys and coordinate values used to resolve locations.

Locations referenced in the selected iSheet must be mapped to a corresponding point on the map. Match the available iSheet data listed on the left with the appropriate point or address on the right. Locations that have already been mapped are not displayed in this list but can still be modified after the map component is finalised.

Interaction Settings

On hover
- Configure the information displayed when a user hovers over a map region. The record count is shown by default. The following additional options are available:
  • Show Record Count
    (default) - Displays the total number of records in the selected region when you hover over it. This option is enabled by default.
  • Show choice column overview
    - Select a choice-type column from the iSheet to display a breakdown of choice values for that region. Only choice-type columns are listed.
  • Show aggregation of number column
    - Select a number-type column to display an aggregated (summed) total for all iSheet records within that region. Only number-type columns are listed.

Map Style

Determines the visual presentation of a map, including how geographic data, regions, markers, labels, and colours are displayed. In the Maps component, the map appearance can be influenced through configuration options such as map type, colour settings, borders, labels, legends, and detail tables.
Choose from the available built-in Azure Map styles.
Enable 3D map view
- Displays the map using a three-dimensional perspective, allowing geographic features and locations to be viewed with depth and elevation instead of a traditional flat map view.

Review the configuration summary to verify all settings are correct, then click
Create
to generate the Azure Maps panel.
The map is automatically added to the dashboard panel and is immediately available for use.
